born again, now as myself is organized in two sections, Metamorphoses and Reflexions. The name of this chapbook as well as the section titles are representative of Su's experiences as a queer nonbinary young adult. Growing up, Su was also growing into their true gender identity, giving them little time to mourn their youth before being thrust immediately into another adolescence. Reuniting with the medium of poetry after struggling through mental and physical challenges over the last 5 years has reminded them of their capacity for self-healing and finding humor and beauty in anything. Poetry doesn’t always offer Su solace, but it does always discomfort them in the exhilarating way that only answers that create more questions do.
