Your gym shorts fold around
sweat smeared legs, hairs cling
together, a mesh of impish
euphoria. Hair gel runs into
my eyes, so only your imprint
is visible. Tag was never my
game, not compared to your
soccer-trained frame, loose,
explosive, impossible to catch,
though so close to touch. I lead
worship today and recess has
nearly ended. When I hold
your hand later in collective
prayer, please linger a little
so I might tighten my grip.
